After a string of social media posts that hinted at it, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini finally announced its NFT (non fungible token) Project. Dubbed Space Key and developed in collaboration with an undisclosed artist the project is based on a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material that was shipped to the International Space Station for research purposes.

The digital artwork
After weeks of social-media posts hinting it, luxury car maker Lamborghini finally announced its first venture for tokens that are non-fungible (NFT). The project is dubbed the Space Key, it consists of five physical items that unlock an exclusive digital artwork NFT by a yet-to-be-identified artist. Developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm) The "collector's item" is limited to five units and will soon be auctioned off.
At the heart of each Space Key is a block made of a high-tech carbon fire composite material that was shipped to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research program. After returning to Earth it was engraved with an QR code that connects it to the digital component of the Space Key.
Each of the five Space Keys will feature a separate moment that occurs a few seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. Over 600 million pixels make up each of the five images, which were taken by photographer Fabian Oefner.
Oefner employed an inflatable camera fitted with lenses to capture the individual images, which were then assembled into the final photograph. The result is a truly out of this world photo that captures the beauty of Earth as well as the futuristic, hyper-realistic look of the car erupting from it. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned in the near future, however there is no specific date or time yet.
The auction

The auctions will run from February 1 through February 4. The auctions will last for 75 hours and 50 mins - the amount of time it took Apollo 11 for him to leave Earth and enter the Lunar orbit. Each one will be auctioned in a separate auction and the winner will receive a digital image created by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner, which captures the five different moments the Space Key passed during its flight through space.
